Children’s mental health, with and through their teachers

Together with civil society organizations and public sector partners, we co-design programs that weave mental health into the education system – rooted in what matters most to children and teachers. We’re currently building our momentum in Rajasthan, India, training teachers to build mental health skills within themselves first, so they can help children flourish in the classroom and beyond.

System-embedded programs

On the path to reaching 4 million children and teachers by 2029

Public education already reaches millions of children, including the most marginalised. When mental health promotion is built inside that system, impact doesn’t only compound but it’s also lasting. At Brio, we’re working with the Education Department of Rajasthan to make that happen.

Khushi Shala

Khushi Shala – flourishing classrooms

In Rajasthan’s public schools

Co-designed with Kshamtalaya Foundation and the Rajasthan education department, Khushi Shala integrates mental health in public schools across Rajasthan’s 33 districts. After a successful pilot with 120 teachers and 1,300+ children, we are now scaling state-wide, training teachers and school leaders to support the wellbeing of 3.3 million+ children and 120,000 teachers every year.

Armonía

Armonía – a new vision of youth leadership

Together with Amadeus in Colombia, we co-created Armonía, a youth leadership program rooted in the belief that leadership shows up in everyday moments, not just on big stages. Through music, community wisdom, and our evidence-based framework, the program supports young people in Bello to navigate daily life with openness, curiosity, and kindness – guided by teachers equipped to bring this vision to life across music schools.

“This program is helping me clear my mind... When there’s something bad in the darkness there will always be a light, a little ray of light that helps me to say, let’s keep going, you can do it.”

Karen, age 16, Amadeus youth leader

“Today we learned to breathe deeply. To live in the present – not in the past, not in the future – in the present.”

Daniel, age 11, Amadeus youth participant
